ARTISTIC STATEMENT
"I thrive on exploring diverse themes, media and techniques
and want to push my capabilities to the fullest.
My ultimate goal
is to create art with visual
and conceptual impact."
Dar has had a long-term fascination with narrative and enjoys re-interpreting the 'written word' in concrete, sculptural terms.
"Sculpting affords me the opportunity to encapsulate
multiple elements into a single work of art - a three-dimensional
entity capable of eliciting a complexity of impressions
that are both immediate and enduring."
Dar began her professional career as a stone carver. She later went on to work with clay, plaster, paper mache, metal leaf, sheet metal and 'found' objects (including seaweed, crabs and cat whiskers!). While honing her sculptural skills, Dar has also enjoyed drawing, painting and printmaking.
"As a teacher, I aim to provide technical knowledge,
promote self-esteem, realize potential,
and most of all - to inspire self-expression and creativity."
