ART ENRICHES OUR LIVES

"Creating a sculpture is like giving birth to an original life form.
As a proud parent, whenever my sculptural 'offspring'
delight or fascinate people, I feel hugely gratified."

Dar’s artistic career germinated early in life - at 18 months she began copying illustrations on cereal boxes. Since those early days her creative urge continued to find expression and she gained a comprehensive education in music, dance and art.

"My training in music and dance greatly nurtured
an awareness of line, form, movement and expression.
I have striven to integrate these qualities in my art."


LIFE AND LOVES

Dar was born in Biggar, Saskatchewan, Canada and from the ages of 5 - 15, lived in Southsea, England. She completed high school in Dartmouth, N.S. and attended university in B.C., Utah and Oregon.

Having developed an early appreciation for language and culture, Dar went on to find inspiration in such places as Hungary, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Austria, Yugoslavia, Slovakia, Columbia and Ukraine.

Dar shares her home on Vancouver island with a host of interesting 'characters', including Zoe the Dog and Zoshi the Cat.

"Life is full. Besides teaching and creating art, I’m also passionate about classical music, genealogical research,
science, nature and animals."
